Description of the development of the cca indigenous informed approach standards

In 2014, CCA was serving two Aboriginal Community Health Centres, and piloting accreditation reviews with nine Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centres and entering into a service agreement with the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres. Interest was expressed for CCA to augment its standards to reflect expectations for service being provided by and for Aboriginal/Indigenous persons. An Advisory group was struck with members from these communities to guide us on this path which we continue to walk together. We now have Aboriginal Services Standards as part of our accreditation process with a specific component called an Indigenous Informed Approach for organizations that primarily serve First Nations, Indigenous and Metis people within their health and social services.
